Packed in XLS-A Unicorn bags, made specifically for growing mushrooms with substrate. The bags feature a type A filter, with a pore size of 0.5 microns.

Our pasteurized manure-based substrate is engineered to produce the largest possible yield of your mushroom grow. The exact ingredients are a secret formula of pasteurized composted horse manure, coco coir, and other high-quality substrate ingredients, optimized for mycelium growth. We have progressively improved this substrate formula over time to create the perfect blend for every dung-loving mushroom species. Please note:  Substrate is hydrated to field capacity.

Mycologists at every level of experience can use our substrate in monotubs, filter bags, and outdoor beds. You can also grow your selected mushrooms from the bag or tray in a humidity-controlled grow room.

Spawn to Bulk Ratio

We recommended mixing 1 colonized grain spawn bag with 2-3 bags of substrate. (A higher inoculation rate may improve your success rates.)

• To reduce the introduction of contaminants, we recommend washing your hands and using latex gloves when mixing the substrate and colonized grain.
• Once you have colonized your grain, mix it thoroughly into the substrate.
• As a best practice, wait about 1 week after receiving your substrate to use it for mushroom growth. This is to insure the substrate has not been cross-contaminated transport. If you received a contaminated substrate, contact us for a replacement.

Storage

Store your substrate at room temperature, out of direct sunlight. No refrigeration is necessary. The pasteurized substrate bags can be stored for several months before using.

Sterilization and Pasteurization

Our substrate is pasteurized and sterilized using a commercial grade autoclave. We verify the substrate is sterilized using temperature sensors and biological indicators. We take pride in delivering safe, high-grade solutions to mycologists for their growing needs.
